Tell us a little bit about yourself and your business.
A year ago, I faced a big change when I lost my job. I gave myself some time to pause, reflect and ask myself what I really wanted to do next. In all honesty The Graze Maids started as a sketch and developed from there. I asked my husband a skilled joiner to build me a bespoke bar and we poured our heart into the attention to detail, just as you would you’re wedding. We wanted to create a totally unique experience which we could share the amazing foods made in Yorkshire, and create menus that not only taste great but also share a story.
What inspired you to work in the wedding industry specifically?
Our Mobile Charcuterie Bar, has been built from our own experience of getting married. We spent hours designing and having bespoke items made for our wedding to help create a day to be remembered long after the event. We chose to have canapes on the evening of our wedding and it surprised us how many guests said they didn’t have one or didn’t even see them. Our bar is a beautiful focal point for any occasion, and one that most certainly wont be missed.
How would you describe your style or approach to your work?
We are a fully serviced bar and passionate about sharing the provenance of our foods, which makes our business unique to any other Mobile Charcuterie Bar business. We use the finer produce, bespoke finishings and work in close collaboration with our clients to help them to share their story / event through the service of our food.
What part of your job do you love the most?
As we put an incredible amount of care in choosing who we partner with and the food that we share, the favourite part of my job is seeing the guests’ real time reactions when they taste the foods for the first time.
What do couples tend to appreciate most about working with you?
Our communication, attention to detail, presentation and taste of the food.
Tell us about a memorable wedding you’ve worked on.
We have not hosted at A wedding; however, we have already partnered with Carlton Manor to share the packages available through The Graze Maids with their guests. We are delighted by the support of the wedding network, the volume of wedding enquiries and have more partnerships and events to share over the next coming months.
What’s a common myth or misconception about your role that you’d love to clear up?
Not a myth or misconception, but no one unless in a food business, could appreciate the time it takes to prepare the food and the endless hours of washing up before and after an event. Our pricing is based on the work and attention to detail.
If you could give one piece of advice to couples currently planning their wedding, what would it be?
Remember this is your day, do what makes you happy and take time out on your special day to take everything in, as the day will go quicker than you could ever imagine, and one that should be remembered for a life time.
How do you stay inspired, creative, or motivated as a sole trader?
I attend regular network events, where ideas are shared, industry professionals are supported and advice is welcomed.
